A Summer Arts Camp 2017: "AFRICA"
Students will develop skills, techniques, critical thinking, creative problem solving skills, along with conceptual learning through the use of a broad range of resources, materials, and the guidance of talented teaching artists. Students will visit and create in other galleries in the Arts Disctrict of Benton Harbor.
CAMP I (7-12 yrs) $145
June 19-23 Mon. - Fri. noon - 4pm
Students will focus on Africa as they explore traditional, modern, and contemporary African arts and culture. Students will go on a creative journey, learning about various art forms from the North, South, East, and Western parts of Africa. This camp will touch upon textiles, sculpture, Tinga Tinga painting, African folklore, Ndebele painted houses, African mask & symbolism, and mixed media.
Monday - Friday from Noon - 4:00 pm. On Friday, a small bites reception will begin at 2:00 pm, friends and family are invited to join their campers to view the work created during camp.
CAMP II (13-18 yrs) $160
July 10-14 Mon. - Fri. noon - 4:30pm
Students will focus on developing their own style as they create art in an open- studio environment. Teens will create and develop original works of art as they are exposed to various art techniques, processes, and concepts. They will have opportunities in painting, sculpture, mixed media, collage, drawing, and textiles. Students will gain inspiration from our current ARS exhibits and traditional, modern & contemporary African arts and culture.

Older students attending Water Street Glassworks must wear closed-toe shoes and socks (no sandals or bracelets), and long hair must be in pony tails.
Check-in begins on Monday morning at 11:30 am each week.
Please provide a sack lunch and drink for your camper each day.
